The Sacred Valley of the Incas extends along the Vilcanota River (the same river that takes the name of Urubamba or Willcamayu). It covers the area between the towns of Písaq and Ollantaytambo and is located at 2850 m.a.s.l. (approx).

Sacred Valley of the Incas – Day Trip from Cusco

  • 08:30 am

    You will be picked-up from your hotel at 8:30 a.m. in our bus to start the visit to the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

  • Our first stop is PISAQ, a picturesque town of mestizo and colonial physiognomy; located in the province of Calca, 32 kilometers from the Imperial City that has an impressive archeological site with terraces and ceremonial places. We will visit the handicraft, artisanal and local produce markets, as well as the archaeological sacred remains of the Inca civilization.
     
  • We will then head to URUBAMBA, a beautiful town surrounded by majestic landscapes, including the snow capped mountain of Chicón. Here we will have our buffet lunch. Our next stop is OLLANTAYTAMBO, the architectural scenery is of exceptional interest for its size, style and originality of the buildings. Ollantaytambo is one of the most unusual and surprising archaeological parks in Peru, due to the variety in architecture styles and the uniqueness of each one of them. Here we will visit the archaeological remains and the typical fairs and markets.
     
  • End
    We will return to Cusco via CHINCHERO, another very important center of agricultural production. We will visit the church that also is home to a Cusquenian school as well as various decorative elements that maintain their originality. Every Sunday local produces sell their produce at the local market, where bartering is still a common practice.
