Step back in time as you explore the heart of Peru’s rich colonial and artistic heritage with our immersive historical tour through Lima and the bohemian district of Barranco.
This full-day tour is the perfect introduction to Peru, offering a captivating journey through the country’s rich history and the key events that shaped its identity. We’ll begin with a 2.5-hour guided exploration of Lima’s historic center, followed by a visit to the vibrant district of Barranco. There, you’ll enjoy free time for lunch before diving into a two-hour walking tour of this artistic and bohemian neighborhood.
You will be picked up from your hotel at 09:00 a.m. and transported to the historical centre arriving at 9:45 a.m. where you will be met by your guide. Here we will start our tour of the historical centre.
Lima: The City of Kings
Founded by Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro in 1535, Lima is a city where centuries of history come to life. Our tour begins in the historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you’ll walk among beautifully preserved colonial architecture, grand churches, and elegant plazas. Visit iconic landmarks such as the Plaza Mayor, the Government Palace, the Cathedral of Lima, and the Monastery of San Francisco — famous for its intricate catacombs and baroque details.
At around 12:30 p.m. we will take our transport to Barranco where you will have free time for lunch.
At 14:30pm we will meet up again with our guide to continue our tour of Barranco.
Barranco: Lima’s Artistic Soul
From Lima’s colonial core, we journey to Barranco, a coastal neighborhood known for its romantic atmosphere and deep cultural roots. Once a retreat for Lima’s elite in the 19th century, Barranco today thrives as the city’s artistic hub, filled with colorful murals, historic mansions, and charming cobblestone streets. Highlights include the legendary Puente de los Suspiros (Bridge of Sighs), the Barranco Plaza, and the local art galleries and museums that celebrate Peru’s vibrant creative spirit.

At the end of the tour our transport will pick us up to take us back to our hotel.
