Laguna Salinas is a stunning high-altitude salt lake located in the Arequipa region of southern Peru, at over 4,300 meters above sea level. Surrounded by volcanoes like Misti and Ubinas, the lake offers a surreal, otherworldly landscape that changes dramatically with the seasons. During the dry season, its vast white salt flats shine under the sun, while the rainy season transforms it into a reflective lake, often attracting flamingos and other birdlife. It’s a hidden gem for nature lovers and photographers alike.
06:00 am – 06:30 am: Hotel pickups.
06:30 am: We start our tour to the Salinas Lagoon, making different stops.
07:30 am: Our first visit will be to the Mirador de los Volcanes in the district of Chiguata, which we will reach in an average of 45 minutes. From there we will be able to observe and take photos of our famous volcanoes.
Afterwards we will arrive to the town of Chiguata where we will visit the main square and the traditional church of Espiritu Santo. We will then enjoy a traditional breakfast. We will then continue our journey for about one hour making stops at Alto Simbral (4200 m.a.s.l.) where we will be able to observe the local flora and fauna including plants such as Queñua, Yareta, Tola, etc.
10:0am: Continuing our tour we will arrive at the Laguna de Salinas where we will stay for around an hour and 30 minutes. We will also make stops to see flamingos, parihuanas, water mirrors (from January to March), vicuña, llama and alpacas (all year round). In the dry season (April to December) we will visit the salt extraction centres where the imagination is essential to take spectacular photographs.
11:00am: We will head towards the Minivolcano and Lojen Hot Springs to enjoy a relaxing bath.
01:00pm: Finally we will return to Chiguata to have lunch and then we will then we will start our way back to the city of Arequipa.
05:00pm: Arrival to the Arequipa where you will be dropped off near the Plaza de Armas.
