Itinerary

  • Day 1: Cusco – Kilometer 104 – Wiñaywayna – Aguas Calientes

    Distance: 10 km / 6.2 miles
Highest Point: Inti Punku (Sun Gate) – 2,730 masl / 8,957 ft

We’ll begin the adventure by picking you up from your hotel in Cusco and heading to the train station in Ollantaytambo. From there, we’ll board a scenic train ride to Km 104, the starting point of your unforgettable trek along the Inca Trail.

Our hike begins with a gradual ascent, taking approximately 3 hours to reach the beautifully preserved Inca ruins of Wiñaywayna (2,650 masl / 8,694 ft). This stunning archaeological site features impressive examples of Inca architecture, including ceremonial fountains, agricultural terraces, and temples. Along the trail, enjoy the natural beauty of cascading waterfalls, vibrant orchids, and lush cloud forest surroundings.

After a scenic lunch near the ruins, we continue our trek for approximately two more hours along the original Inca Trail. The journey rewards us with ever-changing views, lush landscapes, and a growing sense of anticipation as we approach Inti Punku, the legendary Sun Gate. Upon arrival, prepare to be awestruck—this is where you’ll witness your first panoramic view of Machu Picchu, rising majestically from the mist and surrounded by towering peaks. It’s a truly unforgettable moment.

From here, we’ll enjoy a guided visit to the upper section of Machu Picchu, following Circuit 1, which offers the best angles for photos. This is your chance to capture the iconic postcard shot of Machu Picchu—an image that will stay with you forever.

We then descend to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Town) where we’ll check into our hotel and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. During dinner, your guide will provide a briefing for the next day’s visit to Machu Picchu.

Option to visit the thermal baths of Aguas Calientes.

  • Day 2: Discover the Hidden Corners of Machu Picchu & Climb Waynapicchu

    Highest Point: 2,693 masl / 8,835 ft

Today promises another unforgettable experience as we explore the lower sector of Machu Picchu (Circuit 3) and conquer the legendary Waynapicchu Mountain for one of the most breathtaking views in the Andes.

After an early breakfast at the hotel, we’ll board the bus for a scenic ride up to the entrance of Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, your expert guide will lead you through Circuit 3, which takes you deep into the heart of the citadel’s most fascinating and lesser-visited structures—think temples, agricultural terraces, and sacred spaces, each with stories carved into their stone.

Then, get ready for the highlight of the day: the climb to Waynapicchu, the dramatic peak that towers behind Machu Picchu in every iconic photo. This exhilarating ascent takes about an hour and rewards you with a jaw-dropping, bird’s-eye view of the entire complex—a truly unique perspective that few travelers get to experience.

Whether you’re snapping once-in-a-lifetime photos or simply soaking in the energy of this sacred site, today will leave you inspired, exhilarated, and deeply connected to the magic of the Inca legacy.

  • Return to Cusco – Journey’s End

After making the most of your time at Machu Picchu, we’ll begin our journey back. We’ll take the bus down to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll have a bit of time to relax or grab a snack before boarding the train to Ollantaytambo—a scenic 2-hour ride through the lush Sacred Valley.

Upon arrival in Ollantaytambo, our private transport will be waiting to take you back to Cusco, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or a convenient nearby location.

Please note: Return train times may vary between 2:30 PM and 8:30 PM, depending on seat availability at the time of booking—but no matter the time, the views along the way are always worth it!
